Frequently Answered Questions

What is Travel Baseball?

Travel, Tournament and Club baseball are all extensions of league and recreation baseball experiences. Players in travel ball have played a few years of Little League or other recreational baseball and are seeking to continue the baseball season into the summer and fall. If your baseball player is passionate about the game and ready to try their skills at a higher level, travel baseball might be right for you!

Where do we play tournaments?

Carson Valley Baseball is focused on playing “local” tournaments in the Reno/Carson/Tahoe areas with some being played in the Sacramento area of Northern California. The younger teams will likely play into the early fall while older teams may play through the fall. The upper level teams will practice and condition year round to ensure they are able to compete at the highest level.

The specific tournaments played by each team will be up to the manager and the parents, but most teams will play on the All World baseball circuit, more information can be found at their webpage.

What are the age divisions?

Teams are formed based on the age of the players. A 12U team would be made of up players who are 12 years old or younger. A players league age is determined by his or her age on April 30 of each year, and the roll over date is August 1. For more details on player age please refer to the player age chart to the right. A player may play up in age (an 11 year old can play on a 12U team) with the consent of the parents and the manager / coaches.

How is league age calculated?

League age is determined by the players age on April 30 of the year of play. You can find a league age calculator here.
